About Venita

I aspire to engage and entertain young readers through my chapter books and early middle-grade stories, as well as little listeners through my picture books – each filled with humor, heart, and “a-ha” moments. I find inspiration everywhere, from cornfields to cities to the stars, where stories whisper to me, and characters emerge, gradually taking shape, each with their own unique tale to tell.

Raised by parents who were masterful storytellers, I possess a passion for crafting stories that spark children’s imaginations and foster new ideas.

As a member of the Writing Barn Verge Program, the Manuscript Academy, the 12 x 12 Picture Book Challenge and SCBWI, I’m dedicated to my writing! Drawing on my business expertise, I frequently incorporate themes of leadership, teamwork, empowerment, and diversity into my narratives. My children, their families, and a supportive network of friends are central to my life. In addition, I contribute as an ESL tutor, continue to learn Tai Chi, and have a penchant for travelling.
